<p style="text-align: justify;">Vision for the Aged Uganda is the first older persons Development  non partisan, non religious  Non Governmental organization that was founded by a group of 12 Visionary  older persons under the guidance of Mr.Wangola Moses  a graduate from Israelis International Management Institute as Vision Bearer in 2007 in the 7  Sub counties of  Muland ,Paya ,Petta ,Kisoko , Kirewa, Nagongera, Nagongera Town Council and later it was  expanded upon demand to Mukuju, Rubongi,Nagongera Town Council, Sop Sop and Kwapa Sub counties  of Tororo District Eastern Uganda. It was first registered as a Community Based organization (CBO) in 2007 later in September 2008 It got its first official registration as Non Governmental Organization under registration number <strong>7272</strong> and certificate number <strong>S.5914/7792.</strong>It s main purpose is to spear head development activities of older persons aged 60years + years  and grand vulnerable children under their care.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The overall objective of Vision for the Aged Uganda is to spear  head development activities in the fields of supporting care givers of older persons aged 60 years + and vulnerable grand children  under their care, build capacities of older persons, their care givers and  vulnerable children  under their care through mobilization of resources locally and internationally.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Specific Objectives</strong> include mobilizing older persons aged 60 years+, their care givers and vulnerable children under their care to involve and participate in development activities, Create awareness through dialogue about the need to recognize older persons and children under their care as vulnerable groups for special attention by leaders, advocating and lobbying from Government for equal rights and social justice, favorable policies and conducive environment for older persons development activities.</p>

<strong>Our Main Purpose</strong> <p style="text-align: justify;">Is to bring together all  older persons aged 60 years + and their grand vulnerable children to the attention of Government and any other concerned persons and create a platform for collective  positive action as well as a forum for their voices to be heard .</p> <strong>Our Vision</strong> <p style="text-align: justify;">A society where older persons are treated with respect, recogniesd as vulnerable group, healthy and living a secure dignified lives to realize their full potential.</p> <strong>Our Mission</strong> <p style="text-align: justify;">We strive to achieve long lasting improvements in the quality of life of all older persons and children under their care by enabling the marginalized families and communities to realize their rights, meet their basic needs and increase their abilities to participate in and benefit from their societies.</p> <strong>Our full commitment</strong> <p style="text-align: justify;">Is Gods word John <strong>15:7</strong> .Which says if you remain in me and my words remain in you ask any thing in my name and it shall be granted into you.</p> <strong>Challenges facing older persons and vulnerable children under their care.</strong> <ul> <li>Limited social support and incomes to support their families</li> <li>Poor health</li> <li>Negative Attitude towards older persons by Health workers</li> <li>Discrimination in Government programmes</li> <li>Lack of income generating activities</li> <li>Food insecurity at household levels and even for children at school</li> <li>Poor performance of school going vulnerable children due to studying on empty stomach</li> <li>Burden of orphans basic needs</li> <li>No payment to those who served in parastatal bodies e.g UCI tororo</li> <li>Land grabbing</li> <li>Lack of scholastic materials and other school requirements that keeps most of them off school</li> <li>High school drop out and early marriages especially girl children</li> </ul> <strong>Recommendation</strong> <ul> <li>Need to include older persons in Government programmes with specific attention on their age.</li> <li>Change of attitude by medical workers towards older persons</li> <li>Need for special grant for older persons</li> <li>Proper land policy</li> <li>Proper facilitation to older persons groups</li> <li>Need to support school going children scholastic materials and npayment of lunch or mid day meals at school.</li> <li>Provide improved seeds for planting in school gardens to provide lunch or porridge to vulnerable children so that they study and finish</li> </ul>
